Art Exhibition:The Flow of Consciousness
The Flow of Consciousness is an art exhibition by To the Moon Art Charity’s founder, Valerie Yen, created in collaboration with community long-term care institutions and nonprofit organizations as part of World Alzheimer’s Month. This mixed-media series is an artistic journey where neuroscience meets Taoist philosophy, tracing the life of consciousness—from its quiet beginnings beneath the surface, through awakening, connection, cultural memory, pursuit, and fragmentation, to its eventual return to stillness.
Across ten works, layered compositions merge Eastern symbolism with Western scientific perspectives: the balance of opposites in the Taichi, neuron-like networks branching into thought, mountains as vessels of ancestral memory, and the dissolving forms of fading recollection. These visual narratives invite viewers to contemplate the fragility of life, the inevitability of change, and the forces—love and belief—that allow part of us to endure beyond memory.
Both a meditation and a dialogue, The Flow of Consciousness transforms the complex intersections of science and philosophy into a sensory experience, offering a space where the mind’s intangible currents become visible, and where art holds the echo of thought itself.
